Jira Governance & Admin Helper
An administration toolkit for Jira Cloud admins who've spent too long hunting through Jira's native admin UI. It's built for people managing dozens or hundreds of spaces — not for occasional tweaks to a five-project instance.
The app runs entirely inside Jira as a Forge app, so there's nothing to deploy, no server to maintain, and no credentials to hand over to an external service. It lives in Atlassian's infrastructure, calls Jira's APIs on your behalf, and everything stays within your cloud tenant. Think of it as the administration panel that Jira should have shipped with — one place to audit your workflows, clean up accumulated configuration debt, manage users at scale, and bulk-update schemes across hundreds of spaces without opening each one individually.
Most admins open it for the first time when something's gone wrong — they've inherited an instance with 90 workflow schemes and no idea which ones are in use, or they need to update the permission scheme on 300 spaces after a company reorg. It also works well for routine maintenance: monthly cleanups of orphaned custom fields, quarterly user access reviews, or checking who changed a permission scheme last Tuesday.

Who can open this app
You need to be a Jira site admin. Project admin doesn't cut it. The quick way to check: click the gear icon in Jira's top navigation. If it opens the site-wide settings panel with menus like Users, Projects, and Issues, you're a site admin. If it takes you into a specific project's settings, you're not.
Non-admins don't see the app in the sidebar. If someone navigates to the URL directly, they get a permission error — there's nothing they can actually do without admin access.
You need an active Marketplace license. The trial is 30 days, no credit card required. After that you'll need a subscription to keep using it.
A Note on the API Key
Most features work without the API key
The Organization API key is optional. Work Item Configuration, scheme management, role assignments, user listing, boards, attachments, components, releases, and the audit log all work without it. The key adds user suspend/delete at the org level, last-active dates per product, inactive owner detection for dashboards and filters, and group management. If you don't need those, skip it. Setup instructions are in Settings & FAQ.
